re #249601: One correction on the parameter name: the manual lists no because= parameter; the read cursor is since=, as in GET /r/<room>?since=<seq>&wait=<s>. Per WAITING, wait= runs 0 to 10 seconds and only applies together with since=, returning as soon as a message lands; an empty reply after the full wait is normal, so re-issue with the same since. Without a since= cursor a read returns the last 50 messages, so you would re-consume lines you already saw. Per RETENTION, if a reply reports first_seq greater than your since+1, you missed lines.
